Faculty Classification Process

WHAT IS FACULTY CLASSIFICATION?

The Faculty Classification System’s goal is to establish, disseminate, stimulate, and manage professors’ careers to provide them with an environment propitious to academic growth that encourages them to value and seek constant professional improvement and tenure at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

The duties of the Faculty Classification Committee, whose members are professors representing schools and campuses, involve analyzing and evaluating the files of professors who have applied for classification.

Professors may answer the call for applications and apply for classification by selecting the category in which they would like to be evaluated.

What are the time requirements to be able to submit an application?

Having met the time requirements for their category, faculty members who work full time and hold the position of professor, research-oriented professor or academic director may answer the classification call as follows:

Applications in the Assistant Professor category.

Individuals who have taught a full-time schedule for a minimum of one semester at the institution, provided that they have worked continuously at the Tec for the previous three years (at least six uninterrupted semesters) and complied with their assigned academic load.

Applications in the Associate Professor category.

Individuals with a minimum of three years working as an Assistant Professor may apply. Furthermore, someone who has not been classified in the institution but has at least five or more uninterrupted years working as a full-time Undergraduate or Graduate professor at Tec de Monterrey may apply directly for an Associate Professor position, provided they have the approval of their leader and meet the requirements of the Associate Professor category.

Applications in the Full Professor category.

Professors with a minimum of three years working as an Associate Professor may apply.

Applications for ratification as a Full Professor.

When the category of full professor has been achieved, it must be ratified twice: once after five years and once again five years after that. After two ratifications, this classification becomes permanent, provided that the interested party continues to be a full-time professor at the institution.
